[ She deliberates, awkwardly, for a long time about whether to send this or not. But her own feelings aside, duty clearly does mean a lot to the other girl. Hornet can't say she doesn't understand that.
So.
.............
It takes her a long time to compose the message, mostly because she's so unused to it. Usually when she argues with people it's a bit pointier and also to the death. Zombies and cultists don't give you a lot of social skills. ]
I had a conversation with you a few months ago.
I believe I insulted something that meant very much to you.
[Kokoro was going to reply first thing the next morning, for sure. Well, she was until somebody decided to threaten her and kidnap a prof and a TA while they were there, and so she forgets about it the whole day. Hornet will receive a reply very late at night.]
Thank you. I apologize. It seems I'm making a number of people upset.
When Kokoro arrives, Hornet is already sizing up the room with a calculating eye. It's no different than any other dorm room, she assumes, which will make things far easier. ]
The windows and door will need securing. I'd put traps in the hallways, but that would inconvenience others, so the walls will have to do.
[ She acts like she's done this before, many times. It speaks volumes about her past. ]
[She unlocks the door and opens it. Everything seems organized, which is better than most dorm rooms, although there are a lot more pop-up shelves than the default furniture. Almost all of them are stacked with books, loose paper, and why do you need that many bottles of holy water, though the last one probably makes sense because Hornet's seen her fight. The remaining shelves just have soup mix, instant ramen, and a random loaf of bread. She does not have a TV.]
I knew this would happen sooner or later, but in all honesty, it remains unnerving.
[ She still remains paranoid, on guard, even though it's been a while.
She spins out thread from her wrists, casting glowing lines over the windows. Simple, geometric patterns, similar to a spider web, that seem almost to fade into the window's glass and the wall and frame surrounding it when they're completed. She repeats the same process with the walls, casting larger patterns, and is in the process of binding the door when she speaks again. ]
I'm no weaver, [ a tinge of regret in her voice that she's unable to hide ] but these sigils will keep out most unwanted guests. If something tries to break them to get through, they'll be entangled.
...Out of necessity. [ It seems like an effort to admit even that much. ] Making do with what I had was a matter of survival.
There. [ She steps away from the door. In Kokoro's sight, if she concentrates, magic threads through her room like webs. ] You may want extra precautions, to add onto that. I've done all I can do in this regard.
[ She's better with physical traps, but it wouldn't do for someone who the trap wasn't meant for to trigger it ,so she turns to this mostly-lost part of her heritage. ]
It was survival. [ And she's not...wrong. But there's a story there. ] Mindless beings act only on their violent instincts, and so traps work well to dissuade them.
after that whole disaster in flat's post in march

[ No context and getting straight to the point is how Hornet rolls. ]

Harsh indeed. I see why the things you do, fighting and weapons, are so important to you. I apologize that I'd assumed.
